Set against the quiet of the Catskill Mountains at Menla — a 330-acre private nature reserve nestled in a breathtaking glacial valley — this three-night retreat is an invitation to turn toward your inner world with curiosity, structure, and care.

Through a carefully woven blend of Internal Family Systems-guided self-inquiry, group healing circles, and yoga, you will develop a real and intimate relationship with the parts of yourself that have been waiting to be heard. This isn't passive relaxation. It's active inner work — the kind that creates shifts you can feel weeks, months, and years later.

Deep work doesn't have to be heavy work. We've found that the most profound shifts often arrive not through struggle, but through play, laughter, and a spirit of gentle curiosity. You'll leave with more than memories. You'll leave with a new way of seeing yourself — and the tools to keep going.

  • Through facilitator-led inquiry rooted in the IFS model, experience an in-the-moment understanding of the body-mind connection — and what becomes possible through deeper understanding of your inner world.

Do I need experience with IFS or yoga?

Not at all. Both are designed to meet you exactly where you are. All levels are welcome.

Is this therapy?

No — JoySchool retreats are a powerful experiential learning environment that complements but does not replace individual therapy.

What will I walk away with?

A deeper relationship with yourself — greater self-compassion, a practical understanding of your inner world, and tools you can keep using long after you leave.

Will the spa be open?

Yes! You can book spa treatments directly through the Menla website.

I’m not comfortable talking in front of a group. Will I have to?

Absolutely not — group shares are voluntary! We recognize that listening is a form of participation, too. You’re invited to participate in a way that feels right to you.  

What about confidentiality?

While this isn’t therapy, we will set the groundwork to ensure that what happens in our group, stays in the group!
